Question : Connecting two wireless routers together
|
|
Hi,
I have a bit of a weird question (I think)... if I want to do something like this (using linksys or any other routers)... which router can use and how?
Broadband router ==> wireless router <==> wireless router ==> my PC
in the sense, I am trying to have two LANs talk to each other through wireless routers... is this at all possible? how? and which router?

I have a v2 which is fairly old and was before the open source versions (which I am unfamiliar with myself).
The Alchemy release of Sveasoft is public and free but only works on these versions: WRT54G V1.0, V1.1, V2.0, V2.2 and WRT54GS V1.0, V1.1
You can buy a subscription from them for $20 for a year and lets you register it on up to 5 routers (based on MAC address). I think it is worth it myself as it is a full-featured device with this software installed.
If you purchase a subscription, you'll have access to the lastest firmware which works many routers such as ASUS, Buffalotech, Belkin or Linksys.
They've got a good backing of users and have a good FAQ here: http://www.sveasoft.com/modules/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=8
The supported hardware FAQ is here: http://www.sveasoft.com/modules/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16132
Plus a feature list: http://www.sveasoft.com/modules/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=61
