Question : cannot join domain - Error 1326

I am attempting to connect a laptop running Windows 2000 SP4 to a Windows 2000 Server and when attempting to join its domain I get Error 1326 which is: "Logon Failure: Unknown user name or bad password".  Another laptop I have works just fine when joining the domain. I compared the laptops and they have the same Network settings (similar IPs, same netmask, same gateway, same DNS entries). Also I compared local security policies on both laptops and they are the same.  The event logs are not reporting any information when I attempt to join. I'm pretty sure the laptop that isn't working used to connect to the domain fine in the past. What else would have caused it to quit working?

P.S. I can ping the other laptop and the server both with the IP address and the name so DNS appears to be working.

Answer : cannot join domain - Error 1326

Someone I e-mailed suggested I check the LMCompatibilityLevel flag in the registry to see that it was set to 5. It was set to 0 and when I changed it to 5, everything worked.
