Question : Need RDP file to save password and log on to terminal server automatically from shortcut, but password isn't saved

We have a terminal server which runs a single application wehn you log in. Staff use it from home via the Remote Desktop client in XP and log in with their domain credentials.

I want staff to be able to log on from in the office as well, through a desktop shortcut to a saved RDP file on a central server which has a username and password saved in it. This is to avoid having to log in again after logging on to the workstation once already - the saved credentials are for a basic user account created for this purpose.

The problem is that the RDP save file seem to keep "forgetting" the password. At first I thought this was because I was copying the actual RDP file to users' desktops and the password encrpytion is local to the machine the file is stored on, but the problem continued when I then made it a shortcut to a central RDP file. I need users to be able to log on automatically - I have set a GPO to allow automatic logon and to allow the saving of passwords.

i do not think you can do this with RDP connections considering its all AD authenticated security
