Question : Desktop CPU can access network access point but not the Internet

I am running WinXP on a desktop that is connected to a wireless network. It had been working fine for a month or so,
and then all of a sudden my access to the internet was gone, access to the network is still there shows an excellent connection. I've gone through it on my own many times but can't figure it out. I have a laptop cpu that works fine on the network/internet and have tried matching the settings of the desktop to the laptop, but that didn't work. The one thing that sticks out is when I try to repair connection, it says failed to renew IP address and failed to flush ARP cache. Can anyone help me figure this out or provide steps in the right direction? Let me know if you need any additional information. I have a linksys wireless adapter/router on the network if that helps. Thanks!!
