Question : Settings for Cisco console

I have a Cisco 802 ISDN router that I am trying to console into. I have the supplied console cable w/ DB9, hyperterminal and windows me (only laptop with serial connection). When I launch ht (9600, 8N1) on COM1, I get no response back from the router. Help please.

If you are having trouble finding hardware with serail port , I can tell you from experience that the USB to 9pin serial adapters are cheap and work well in 2000/xp

any cisco device with a console port should respond with those exact settings. Perhaps they disabled console logon in the config. Perhaps it isn't com1.  Test your comp port with a loop back or use a paperclip to touch pin 2 and 3 together.  Then type stuff in HT.
