Question : Windows 2000 DNS has to be restarted constantly

Hello,

Our DNS server on our Win2000 server works fine, but then one day it will have to be restarted (the service) every 30 minutes or so for it to work properly (i.e. for client computers to use it).  It will be working, and then all of a sudden it doesn't, restart service, back as good as new.

Anyone know why this happens?  It used to happen on our old DNS server, we moved it to the current server when this was happening but instead of the browsers being blank they use to go to godaddy.com for some reason.  Peculiar.  Now it's happening on this server...any ideas?

Answer : Windows 2000 DNS has to be restarted constantly

Yup corrupt registry entry.  Notifyobservers parameter is corrupt.  Just go into the registry, delete it (using the following link)

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/reskit/w2000Msgs/6205.mspx?mfr=true

then re-add the forwarding DNS server in the DNS MMC after.  It sounds like the forwarder you once added is corrupt, or one of them is.  Make sure you write down the forwarders first.
