Question : Problem with WPA security on Mac using Linksys Access Point (in a mixed Macintosh / Windows XP environment)
|
|
I've tried all sorts of settings combinations but have not been able to get a working configuration. I'm at the end of my rope. Haven't even tried XP yet. Thought that getting the Mac to work would be the hardest. Hope I'm right.
I have all brand new equipment for the install: Linksys wireless access point- WAP54G ver. 3 Mac Client- New MacBook Pro
Has anyone done this? I'd need the wireless security settings for the Linksys router and the Mac.

That would be the first thing to check, I think. Make sure your modem - with its own router - isn't conflicting with the Linksys. Only one should have the DHCP server turned on, and only one should be set as a router - the other should be set as a gateway or in 'bridge' mode (depending on the modem/router - some have one, some have the other).
You could go ahead and attempt the Windows connection to tell if it's something particular with the mac - but even if you get connected in Windows, you may intermittently lose the connection if your modem/router are conflicting with each other.
