Question : ip address is 'aquiring network connection'

the static ip address is:
10.1.100.7 (sub interface 192.9.201.7)
255.255.255.0
10.1.100.1
dns 10.1.0.5, 64.7.11.2

why would the NIC be saying 'Acquiring network address'.....

Answer : ip address is 'aquiring network connection'

Did you change the IP address recently?  Are both of those IP addresses within the range from your router? Are the DNS entries correct?

If you have another computer that's on the same network, see what the settings are on that computer.

Try using only one IP address (try 10.1.100.7 and then 192.9.201.7 to see if the problem arises).

When you get that message, do you still have network access? I noticed this happening on my computer sometimes when I'm disconnected and then reconnected back. I'm still connected even though it says acquiring network address.
