Question : Netmeeting from a computer w/ internal IP
|
|
Hello all,
My boss has asked me to set up a video conference system over internet with someone in Dominican Republic.
I'm trying to do this from a computer that has an internal ip address (ex. 192.168.10.xx).
How do I find out which IP address to give to the guy in Dominican Republic so he can make a call w/ netmeeting?
Please note that I'm trying to do this without the use of Windows Messenger.
If I use MSN Passport, is there a way to set up a short cut so netmeeting will make connection automatically between the two parties?

you need to setup your firewall to port-forward from one of your public IP address into the internal IP address, and to allow outbound connections from certain ports as well
Here's a doc on the firewall ports used by NetMeeting http://www.microsoft.com/windows/NetMeeting/Corp/reskit/Chapter4/default.asp#two
you'll need to talk to your firewall admin to see if there's an available public address to use, or you *could* just port-forward from the public address of the firewall.
