Question : Installation of a Linksys Networking Card in a laptop fails :"The data is invalid"
I run Windows XP Pro SPII on a Dell laptop Inspiron 8200. I have corruption somewhere because when installing the Linksys PC Card PCW54G on the Dell laptop Inspiron 8200, I get a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager: it asks to install the drivers. But the drivres are the right ones. When updating the drivers, I get "Problem installing this hardware Wireless Notebook Adapter v.2. Error: the data is invalid". Also, it is impossible to UNINSTALL the Linksys Wireless Network Adapter in Device Manager. I get "Uninstall failed. This device may be used to boot the computer". Also, trying to add Networking Windows Components produces also "Installation failed. The data is invalid ". Finally, trying to put the 3COM working adapter icon on the task bar produces"You have first to instal a protocol". This is non-sens because this adapter works fine and uses TCP/Ip. However, clicking on "Do you want to install a protocol: YES" produces again "The data is invalid"
Any help welcome, dbessis
