Question : one Computer does not get signal, on the network.

Our network beging with 192.168.2.x, and the internal server IP is 192.168.2.1. So obviously, all the computers on the network also get a 192.168.2.x IP address.

But there is one computer that is connected to the network port, but it just doesnt get signal.
It's IP Address is 169.254.221.34
and there is no default gateway (blank)
and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0 instead of 255.255.255.0 as the other computers.

This computer, when tried to login as Administrator, says it cannot log into the domain. But if a user's login with the network's domain chosen, it logs in. That is when and how I checked the above IP addresses.

What is the best way to start to troubleshoot it?
Thanks

Answer : one Computer does not get signal, on the network.

I was busy last weekend moving a customer from their old office to their new serviced office and ended up re-cabling half of the network sockets.

One had a faulty face-plate, discovered after running a fresh cable and then terminating the cable ends, but still no joy.  Changed the face-plate and everything worked.

It may not be mice after all ;-)  Just the usual Gremlins at work!
