Question : Punch down block

2 questions on Punch Down Blocks for doing my wiring.

1)  Must I use a punch down tool?  Those suckers are $50!!!  I have a cheapy plastic one, but I think it is for modular connectors, not a punch down block.

2)  Are there good tutorials on how to wire a punch down block?  Right now I just have all the wires TWISTED together.  Pretty ugly but it is actually working!!!!!  I want to untangle this mess and use a punch down block instead.

To see what the punch down block that I purchased looks like, go to:

Answer : Punch down block

You can get a punch down tool for a lot less than $50, you just need to shop around. You can use a box cutter blade to do the trick, you just need to use the angled (not sharp) end to push the wire into the panel, you do not need to cut the ends down if you don't want to. I would still suggest you by a punchdown tool, or go to a tool rental shop and pay $10 to rent it.
