Question : Will USB print servers work with Multifunction Canon printers?
I am considering purchase of a Canon MP730 multifunction printer, but I need to network the printer. This unit only comes with a USB port. I have seen a few people describe problems with the multifunction printers.... some say they don't work at all with a USB print server, and others say you can print, but some of the other scan, copy, fax features don't work. I have also seen reference to printing problems because the multi-function printer drivers use a lot of CPU time to rasterize the image, but have difficulties doing so when the printer is attached to a remote print server. I have also heard these print servers only work with HP printers because you need a "printer control language". In doing some other searches, I found a few products like the "c-6200u" USB print server which appears to be compatible with the Canon printer, but I was hoping to hear from someone who had worked with or tested some of these print servers with non-HP printers... will a Canon MP730 multifunction printer work with a USB print server?

Buckt4,
I my experience networking multifunction printers is not worth the time. You would be better off attaching the printer to a computer on the network and sharing it that way.
