Question : ARP Broadcast

Hi everybody

I have an issue with arp broadcasts on our network. We have 1022 public address 12.x.76.x-12.x.79.x. I ran ethereal on the network for 45 minutes and got above 60% arp broadcast from the gateway, that is the ISP router(3600).And the requests are for random addresses. My question is, Is this normal for this kind of network or is there something wrong. Also we are SOA for above 150 domains and have above a dozen web and exchange servers.

Thank you

Answer : ARP Broadcast

Random IP addresses in requests, could be very possible that they are web traffic. So if arp caching is not enabled, have them enable it and also increase the timeout value for arp in the router.

Cheers,
Rajesh
