Question : Windows 2003 server - Adding second domain controller

In a previous question I presented a incomplete promotion of a second domain controller with FRS errors.

I will be demoting the problem DC then trying to add it again.

I'm wondering if too many FSMO roles were added, the wrong order or what.

What FSMO roles can I add to the second DC and in what order?

Can both DCs be Global Cataloging servers?

What other configurations should I be aware of when configuring a second DC?

Thanks,

Daniel

Answer : Windows 2003 server - Adding second domain controller

your AD and DNS are pretyt much it as far as windows goes

a backup plan is your best and fastest way to get back up and running....what do i do in the case of failure? document it!

you may also want to look at DFS for file repication
