Question : Configuring MS Exchange for Outgoing server authientication

Hello,

I'm relatively new to this, so please excuse me and bare with me.

We run MS Exchange servers. We are having problems sending emails to some domains because of the PTR record of our IP. The ISP suggested to route emails through their SMTP servers. I found the following steps on internet and followed it, but I wasnt able to send emails at all after that:

"In Exchange System manager - find your routing groups section, create a new

connector, SMTP.

Name it something logical (ISP's SMTP Server, Forward to ISP as Smarthost,

etc) and choose forward all messages to the following

smart host- put in your ISP's smtp server there.

Under local bridgeheads, select your server.

In the Address Space tab, add the email domains you want (SMTP) - or choose

* for all internet mail.

Do not select allow messages to be relayed to those domains or you'll open

yourself up to relay spam.

Set up the authentication in the connector's outbound security properties.
"

I dont know if the above steps are complete. I'm not even sure if this is a good way. So if you can please suggest me if this is the right way and help me configure it. I have two options, one to use port 25 and other to use SSL port 465. I would like to use SSL port 465. Please let me know if you need anything else from me.

Thank you,

There is very little troubleshooting. It either works, or it doesn't.
Don't believe a word the ISP says - ISP technical support routinely lie about most things. All they want to do is get rid of you so their call stats look good.

When the messages are stuck in the queues, what does the additional queue information box say?

Simon.
