Question : Cisco VPN "Failed to establish secure connection..."
|
|
All of sudden my wife's VPN Client is unable to connect to the server. We're running it on Windows 2000 and it connects via ADSL on a Lucent Cellpipe modem.
When you run the VPN Client it says that it has "failed to establish a secure connection to the security gateway". It was working fine this morning and I don't think any of the settings have been changed since then.
We have had a similar failure in the past but we got round it by unplugging the modem and leaving it turned off for an hour. That hasn't worked this time.
I'm afraid that you're dealing with a networking novice here.

If the machine browses the internet then there isn't much more that you can do.
VPN is an technology that runs over the Internet. If you are dialling in to the company network directly with ISDN then you don't need VPN. If you are dialling in to the Internet then you will need VPN.
Simon.
