Question : turning my computer into an answering machine

I wanted to set up my pc for an answering machine...I was wondering a few things...

Obviously I will need a modem with voice..I was also wondering if anyone has this what kind of software is the best or free ??

I will hook the modem into the computer I will set up the phone line to the phone and then out of the phone to the computer ??

I was just wondering what software anyone has used themselves or any recommendations...Also do I need a 2 line phone or will a 1 line phone work ??

the line will come from wall to the phone then form the phone to the modem then the modem to the computer software for an answering machine...

just curious if anyone has done this Thanks for all your help .....

Most modems will come with the software you need. I'd try what they supply.

I used a voice modem for answering machine years ago and it worked very well. Some answering software supports multiple voice mail boxes and customized messages (microphone and sound card required).
