Question : New Domino Server error in connecting: remote pathname must be relative to data directory

We've created a new Domino server on 64-bit Win2003 using Domino 8.02.  When we try to access it using Administrator from a different box (on the same LAN, using either its private IP address or its name, we get this error message:

Remote pathname must be relative to Data Directory.

Along with this error message, the bar at the very bottom of the Administrator screen says "Connected to server lagoh..."  When I close the error message, the message at the bottom goes away too.

We've never seen this problem before.

Answer : New Domino Server error in connecting: remote pathname must be relative to data directory

As a work-around we created a new partition and installed Domino there. That seemed to solve the problem. There seems to be some problem with Domino recognizing or dealing with the Program Files (x86) folder. We had to type in F:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Domino and F:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Domino\data in the appropriate places during installation.
